EURIX analyzes data from Gaia space mission

  • by

Yesterday the new update of the Gaia space mission catalog was released. It is the most accurate three-dimensional map of the Milky Way.

This detailed census, which has allowed to accurately catalog nearly two billion stars, is the result of thirty-four months of observations made thanks to the astronomical satellite Gaia of the European Space Agency (ESA).

This huge amount of data needs to be carefully examined and studied. The correct interpretation of this complex information provides an essential contribution to a better understanding of our galaxy.

A fundamental contribution in this sense is guaranteed by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF).

EURIX, which enjoys a recognized and appreciated know-how in the field of Data Analysis, collaborates with INAF to the processing of data from the Gaia mission.

The Company has gained a decade of experience in the development, optimization and integration assistance, at the Data Processing Center of Turin in ALTEC, of scientific algorithms for data reduction and analysis processed at the Astrophysical Observatory of Turin (OATo).

The data processing center in Turin is the only one in Italy of the total six in Europe entirely dedicated to astrometric validation.
